Connect 2004, the fourth edition of Tamil Nadu’s annual ICT show, will be organised jointly by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the Government of Tamil Nadu between 22-25 September 2004 at Chennai Trade Centre, Nandambakkam, Chennai. Connect 2004 will focus the Domestic Enterprise ICT Market in India - Solutions for Manufacturing, Services & Government Sectors, the chairman of CII, Tamil Nadu, T T Ashok said. Showcase Tamil Nadu - Connect 2004 will also showcase Tamil Nadu's ICT skills, capabilities; ICT Infrastructure & Technical skills in a major way. The Government of Tamil Nadu through ELCOT would be showcasing all the facilities, infrastructure available for potential investors, according to Vivek Harinarain, Secretary, IT, Tamil Nadu Government. Facility visits to best in class BPO & ITES companies would be arranged to get a first-hand look and feel of Tamil Nadu's ICT skills, capabilities; ICT Infrastructure. CONNECT 2004 features a 4-Day Exhibition featuring the state of the art hardware and software ICT solutions for the Manufacturing, Services, and Governance sectors. Connect 2004 Exhibition would showcase the state-of-the-art Technology, Products, Solutions & Services in ICT sector; Enterprise Applications, Solutions & Technology from Small & Medium Businesses (SMBs); Communication Services in areas like Telecom, Broadband Leased Lines, ISDN, VOIP and IVRS VPN. For the first time, Connect will feature Concept Zones covering Interactive Product & Equipment DEMOS. These Designated Areas will offer Live Demos, Lectures / Educational Sessions on various aspects relating to Enterprise ICT Applications for Corporates. This innovative idea would give the visitor a realistic hands-on experience of the technology and also provide the exhibitor an opportunity to showcase the products differently. A Visual Communication Zone is being planned for the first time focussing on animation. CONNECT 2004 will feature 4 Enterprise ICT conferences focusing on 3 broad verticals – Manufacturing, Services, and Governance. This includes conferences on Wireless Technology; i-Govern; Smart Manufacturing, i-Serve. The CII first-ever Wireless Conference would focus on emerging trends and opportunities in ‘Wireless’ modules of IT solutions. i-Govern 2004 would focus on Quality of IT in Public Services and spell out opportunities and challenges in replicating of e-Governance models. It would also discuss issues and challenges in Telemedicine. Smart Manufacturing conference would exclusively focus on manufacturing sector. An exclusive session on 'IT – Key enabler in World Class Manufacturing: A CEOs Perspective' has been scheduled. Conference on i-Serve would deliberate on the theme 'Emerging Integrated e-Solutions for Service sector' with focus on Paradigm shifts in Customer interface through ITES; e-Security in Service Sector; RFID and Services Sector; and BPO – User Experience & Perspectives. A National Conference on Computer Education in Schools is being organised to showcase pioneering initiatives in computer education in schools, emerging international models in Computer Education and the way forward. CIO's/ CTO's Sessions - As Part of Connect 2004, CII is organising 45 Minute Session with CIOs/ CTOs from Leading Corporate, Government & Public Sector Enterprises. We would plan to have a minimum of 6-7 Such Sessions on each day of the Connect 2004 Exhibition on all the four days, Ashok said. Connect 2004 would feature CIO / CTOs Session with participation of leading CEOs from banks, insurance companies, PSUs, Central & State government department and agencies. The session would present the current IT practices & architecture, IT roadmap, e-governance initiatives of select Government departments and IT investment/projects. International Delegations: The participation of international delegations from Malaysia, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Sri Lanka, Singapore and Canada has been confirmed, Ashok added. SMB Focus - With most ICT companies focusing on solutions for Small & Medium Enterprises, We are getting ICT Companies who have low-cost, efficient solutions for SMBs.
