HP launches 22 new products

Hewlett Packard India, the global leader in imaging and printing, has announced its intentions to aggressively drive and expand the laser printing market in India. HP outlined its plans in Chennai to tap markets in C and D centres of India.

Speaking on the occasion, Samir Shah, country category manager - shared printing and connectivity, Hewlett Packard India Sales Pvt Ltd, said, "HP has maintained its Numero Uno position in the laser printer space since 1984 and currently commands 74 per cent of the printer pie. HP's consistent success is the outcome of the five key functions of technology leadership, large product portfolio, affordable pricing, after-sales support and service and pan India presence. HP will ride on these pillars to drive growth."

"According to IDC, the overall laser market grew at 58.5 per cent this year (Ql and Q2). IDC further estimates a unit percentage growth of 42.5 per cent over 2003. As a market leader, HP is committed towards driving this growth and expanding the market," he added.

In order to achieve this objective, HP has outlined an aggressive four-pronged strategy. The strategy is to increase reach and size of market, make laser technology all- pervasive, fortify channel infrastructure and strengthen its current position in the market.

HP will also leverage its strong network base of more than 2,500 managed channel partners, 273 customer support and service centers and a 24-hour, toll-free helpline service to ensure nationwide reach of HP products and customer service facilities, Shah said.

Prices are more affordable now as internationally rates were being lowered, Shah added.

As a part of its strategy, HP is also introducing a whole new portfolio of laser printers, ranging from entry-level to high-end.
