Socomec-Numeric enter into JV
French UPS major and global leader in UPS technology Socomec SA and Indian UPS manufacturer and market leader Numeric Power Systems Ltd are setting up a joint venture to distribute, sell and service state-of-the-art 3-phase range of Socomec UPS products in India. The new joint venture company will function under the name Socomec-Numeric UPS Pvt Ltd with its headquarters in Chennai, India.
Under this joint venture agreement signed recently in Benfeld, France, by Socomec's chief executive officer Kim Pascal, and Numeric's managing director R Chellappan, the new venture will focus on addressing the fast-growing Indian market with latest technology UPS systems that offer high performance, unmatched reliability, availability and maximum efficiency, while matching the demands of the present generation IT loads in mission critical applications without any de-ration of the UPS capacity.
Kim said, "It is very natural for us to come together because both our companies are committed towards offering best products and solutions and dedicated support to our valued customers."
R Chellappan said, "Our JV symbolises the synergy of advanced technology offered by Socomec combined with the excellent project management expertise and dedicated customer care of Numeric towards the objective of ensuring highest uptime for the demanding technology applications in the emerging Indian market."
Numeric, a listed public company in India, has been focused in offering highly reliable and well supported UPS solutions in India for the past two decades and has been the market leader in the power conditioning arena with a turnover of around Rs 300 crore ($ 62 million) during the year ended March 2006 with a marketshare of over 16 per cent (Source: Frost & Sullivan). Numeric has offices in over 150 locations in India with a 1,400-strong dedicated team.
Jean-Marc Gautier, managing director, Socomec Asia-Singapore, elaborated on the strong growth track of Socomec in Asian markets and its global presence in the UPS field for over 40 years. He added that their other division for low voltage switching components and protection systems (load-break switches, fuse-combination switches, changeover switches, fuse links, electronic control and protection, energy management systems, enclosures and cabinets) had spread its wings as early as the 1920s with a sizable marketshare across the globe.
The initial phase of the new joint venture, Socomec-Numeric will focus on the development of the 3-phase UPS market for Socomec products in India.
