TCL, China's leading consumer electronics company and No 1 in CRT manufacture, has announced its expansion plans for India and unveiled its new range of colour televisions and ACs - 'Colour Air Conditioners' - for the Indian market.
As a part of its expansion plans, the company plans to double its branches, dealer network and after-sales service centres by 2010 as well as strengthen its presence in the southern region by innovative product offerings, said Warren Wang, the recently appointed managing director of TCL India Holdings Pvt Ltd, in
Chennai.
He said, "After China, India is the most important market for us. We plan to expand our network and double our branches, dealer network and after-sales service centres by 2010 as well as strengthen our presence in the southern region by innovative product offerings. We are currently focusing on tuning our strategy to meet our customers and dealer requirements."
TCL has become the largest manufacturer of television sets in the world with 23 million sets being sold in 2006 alone. TCL's new range of colour televisions comes with unique features with the price range starting from Rs 8,490 onwards. Its new range of colour ACs comes with a maximum noise level of 38 decibels, which will be almost inaudible.
Another innovative feature in the colour ACs is the 'Independent Dehumidification', which removes humidity from the room without altering the room temperature. Another key feature, 'Anti-Mildew', protects the indoor unit from corrosion. When switched off, the cross fan (in the indoor unit) still runs for 30 minutes thereby drying-up all the humidity present and ensuring that no mildew is formed in the indoor unit. The colour ACs are available in five fresh and vibrant colours of blue, green, yellow, pink and silver to go with one's home interiors or office decor.
TCL's new category of ACs is designed with a wide voltage range enabling them to work efficiently even when the voltage fluctuates between 187-240 volts. It also has a hydrophilic fin, which improves the heat exchange efficiency, allowing free flow of condensed water and reducing air resistance. The colour ACs come from Rs 19,200 onwards.
"At TCL, it's our endeavour to create a world-class corporation, aligning the Indian R&D talent system with TCL's International R&D system. TCL is geared to meet the need gaps of the consumers from all aspects centered around innovation, technology, price, style, after-sales service. Our objective is to consolidate TCL's global leadership position, offer a diversified high-quality product range from basic to high-end innovative products, and address all key markets competitively," Wang added.
As part of its aggressive global expansion plans, TCL entered the Indian market by establishing a 100 per cent subsidiary, TCL India Holdings Pvt Ltd, in September 2004. It started with the manufacture of colour televisions followed by air-conditioners, washing machines and small home appliances.
India being one of the fastest growing economies in the world, is the most strategic market in TCL's global expansion plans. TCL is a strong, multi-product company rather than a single product company.
The company currently has 21 branches, 5,000-dealer network and 120 after-sales service centres all across India.
