Seiko Watch Corporation, the leading global
watch manufacturer, announced its foray into India by unveiling
a wide range of its latest, premium, international watches. The
new set of watches, through the 'Sportura', 'Premier' and
'Spring Drive' collections - a total of over 110 watches - will
be launched in India within the price range of Rs 6,700 and Rs
1,70,000.
The overall Seiko range will maintain a
'classy active' look and will target the young, mature, upwardly
mobile and 'self assured' Indian consumer in the age group of
25-40 years, said Atsushi Kaneko, managing director, Seiko Watch
India.
In keeping with its rich 126-year-old legacy
of being an innovator, Seiko, noted for inventing the world's
first quartz wristwatch, has amongst other notable 'firsts' in
the world of watches created path-breaking technologies like the
spring drive and kinetic. The 'Sportura' and 'Premier'
collections in India will offer watches featuring this new-age
'Kinetic' technology, he added.
Kinetic uses natural 'body movement' to
generate electricity to power the watch. This solves the problem
of high power drain in the conventional quartz chronographs, he
said.
The momentum of 'The Quiet Revolution' of the
Spring Drive is increasing and the launch of Seiko in India
would see the introduction of the much-admired Spring Drive
chronograph, the only chronograph in the world to measure
elapsed time in glide motion, he said.
Announcing Seiko's foray into India, Atsushi
Kaneko said, "Our watches set standards in the international
watch market with cutting-edge technology, differentiated design
and superior craftsmanship, in keeping with the changing needs
of our consumers. We take this opportunity to bring to India our
latest products with a high degree of innovation and
refinement."
The company plans to open some flagship
outlets in addition to strengthening retail presence across
multi-branded outlets.
The company will also work towards enhancing
its already strong after-sales service network across the
country.
