Indian Auto Rickshaw Challenge
The great Indian Auto Rickshaw Challenge is being organised as a rally from Chennai to Kanyakumari between August 21-28, 2006.
According to lead organiser Aravind Kumar, the challenge is a 1,000 km (590 miles) rally through the most scenic roads of South India in a three-wheel, motorised vehicle, the
autorickshaw.
The race is open to everyone regardless of experience, nationality and age. Autos will be provided by the organisers and the participants will have two days to prep the vehicle before the start.
As on August 2, there were 12 teams participating in the event that costs a hefty euro 1,300.
The INDIANARC sponsorship funds will benefit local anti-child labour organisations. "We are proud to support the New Hope Society for Education and Social Welfare, an organisation dedicated to improving education and eradicating child labour, registered in Tamil Nadu," say the
organisers.
