Spastics Society sports day

Spastics Society of Tamil Nadu (SPASTN) celebrated its annual sports day, sponsored by Allsec Technologies at the SPASTN campus in Taramani, on September 21, 2006. Over 650 students from the three campuses of SPASTN, Chennai, participated in this event. Jagadish Ramamoorthi, CEO, Allsec Technologies, gave away the prizes, including an Allsec trophy to the winners and the participants of the event.

Students from Taramani, Ayanavaram and Royapuram campuses of SPASTN participated in over 27 events. All the events were based on the skills of these children which gave each of them a chance to participate and showcase their abilities. A few games were also organised for the parents.

Jagadish Ramamoorthi said, "Reaching out to the community is a vital part of Allsec’s organisational strategy." 

Annie Shyam, director, SPASTN, said, "We are very grateful to Allsec Technologies for coming forward to organise our annual sports day. They have reinforced the fact that children with disabilities are also able to participate and enjoy in sport activities."  

Allsec Technologies has constituted the Allsec Trophy, presented to the best team amongst the three SPASTN centres. 

Allsec Technologies Limited (NSE-ALLSEC) is an ISO 27001:2005 and BS7799 certified pure play third party BPO offering both voice and non-voice services with state-of-the-art facilities in Chennai and Bangalore, housing 2,300 seats. 

In 1981, in Chennai, a group of concerned eminent social workers came together and formed SPASTN - 'The Spastics Society of Tamil Nadu' - a voluntary, non-governmental, non-profit organisation, under the guidance of Shanthi Sadique Ali, the then Governor's wife, to fill the void of a special school for children with cerebral palsy in Tamil Nadu.

SPASTN is managed by an executive committee headed by a president -- Seetha Muthiah - assisted by Col. Gopala Chari as the secretary and Meenakshi Meyappan as the treasurer. The director, Annie Shyam, is in charge of running all the programmes of SPASTN through the managers of the various departments and the principals of the schools.
