"The exciting Kinetic Laser delivers breakthrough styling and performance at a highly affordable price tag. It brings many first time features to the Indian biking market - including an advanced 4-valve engine, a twin headlamp in a sports fairing, a car- dashboard like complete instrumentation console, a digital gear indicator, battery powered electricals and special mirrors, says the Joint Managing Director of Kinetic Engineering, Sulajja Firodia Motwani.
The Kinetic Laser features a power of 15 bhp, torque of 15 Nm, and a top speed of115 kmph. "It has a counterbalanced engine for minimal vibrations, exceptional stability, balance and handling. Laser is an internationally styled bike with a half fairing, twin headlamps, curved petrol tank, unique exposed frame and attractive color schemes. It is also available with an electric start option", she pointed out. The exshowroom prices begin at Rs. 49,661 (ex showroom, Chennai). The bike also delivers a mileage of 50 kmpl on road to comfort wallets. "With its awesome looks, the Kinetic Laser will appeal to the young, flashy, and to the young-atheart", she added. "Kinetic has decided to delight the performance motorcycle lovers. After the good response received by the Kinetic Aquila, and Velocity, we have followed it up with the Laser, which is a groundbreaking sports bike - with high doses of performance and style." Kinetic makes the Laser and the cruiser delight Aquila in collaboration with Hyosung Motors, Korea. Kinetic Engineering is a leading exporter of motorcycles worldwide, including the US. It has recently successfully entered the executive bikes segment with its motorcycle Velocity. The Pune-based Kinetic group was "responsible for pioneering the concept of personalized transportation in India with the launch of its moped Luna in 1974. It also revolutionized the Indian scooter market by being the first to introduce modern scooters with electric start and variomatic gearless transmission." Today, the group is placing emphasis on positioning itself as a manufacturer of motor cycles, although it plans to come up with a new range of seven scooter models in April 2004, Sulajja added. It holds technical collaborations with Honda Motors of Japan for scooters, and with Hyosung Motorcycles of Korea for motor cycles. The group is a leading exporter of vehicles across the globe including the US, Europe, Latin America, Asia, Africa and Australia. It has won 14 exports excellence awards, pointed out Sulajja adding that the group which sold 55,000 bikes last year and plans to touch 80,000 this year, hopes to double sales to 1.6 lakh units next year.
