Yuvraj endorses Turbo Drive

T.I. Cycles of India introduces a new range of MTB (Mountain Terrain Bikes) with Turbo Drive. TI has signed up with Yuvraj Singh, celebrity cricketer, to introduce the new range.

A nationwide television campaign featuring Yuvraj Singh on Hercules MTB cy£les with turbo drive would break across all popular channels this week. Speaking on the occasion, G Hari, President, T.I. Cycles of India said, "The new range of MTB bicycles with Turbo Drive stand for speed and power, which perfectly blend with the traits that Yuvraj epitomizes,"

He explains, "Yuvraj is undoubtedly one of the most passionate players in the team. He displays amazing power and speed on the field. Therefore, it was only befitting that he endorses the new range of Hercules MTB products with Turbo Drive."

"The MTBs from Hercules signify the same power and passion that is so evident in Yuvraj's game," said Hari.

Yuvraj, in his message on the occasion, said, "It's a nostalgic moment for me to be associated with TI Cycles. As a teenager, I loved riding my Hercules MTB. Today as its brand ambassador, I feel proud to be associated with the brand that has stood the test of time and introduced countless innovations in the industry over the years.

Said Mohit Khattar, Vice-president, Sales and Marketing, these bikes with turbo drive are different from all other ordinary bicycles in that they use technically advanced low friction chain wheels and cranks that are up to 25 per cent heavier than ordinary chain wheels and cranks. They also use bent cranks as opposed to straight cranks. This correct angle on the crank enables the rider to direct all the effort on to the chain wheel with minimal wastage. The heavier chain wheel converts the pedalling effort into faster motion. In-house research at TI proves that these bikes are significantly faster than other ordinary bikes in this category, he added.

Eight models of the new type of bikes had been introduced with a price range of Rs 2,000 to 2,800, he said adding that a 15-20 per cent growth was planned through this strategy. The investment on the new models would cost Rs three to six crore, he said.

The company sold eight lakh cycles last year, and its exports were on the increase to areas like Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Africa and the Middle East.

It also proposed introducing a variety of the turbo drive for Chennai constables, if the proposal was accepted by the City Police. More Cycle rallies were also planned in Chennai and a few other cities in the country, Mohit added.

The company was also conducting research on using aluminium alloy in the bicycles to reach out to Western countries. The feasibility of manufacturing it in-house was being explored, he added.
