Surya pointed out that gone were the days when one had to wait in the long queues at the railway booking counters for reservation. With the advent of online booking facilities, a common man can easily book his ticket over the Internet. Till recently, the online purchasing was done only through credit cards. And then came the good news - for those who don't have or don't intend to use credit cards - Itz Cash, a safe, secure and convenient mode of making micro-payments and taking the IT revolution further ahead, added Surya.
With Indian Railway's marketing arm, IRCTC, having an association with Intrex India Ltd., the promoters of Itz Cash, one can simply make a phone call and order for ltz Cash conveniently sitting at home. To experience the Itz Cash convenience, one just has to log on to Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) website and purchase rail tickets on line. There is little to worry about, as the tickets will be delivered directly to your home, said Gurpreet Bakshi, head, marketing, sales and distribution. ltz Cash is a new avatar of safe electronic payment system, he said. It's a pre-paid card with various values ranging from Rs 100 to Rs 10,000. With ltz Cash, online railway booking is made safer and simpler. Booking a ticket online is simply a click away. You may log on to IRCTC website http://www.irctc.co.in and enter your boarding and destination station codes, choose your journey date and class. Then choose the train you wish to travel. Enter the details of those who are travelling. As in the case of a physical purchase, a maximum of six names can be entered at once. Then you will get the availability status of your ticket. Proceed to 'Make Payments' option and select Itz Cash. Enter your Itz Cash account number and password. Click on 'Confirm' and note down your PNR number and now be at rest! Your ticket will be delivered to your home within three days. You will also get an E-mail with the ticket details. Itz Cash is a pre-paid card, so if at all there is any slightest possibility of misuse on the Internet, it is restricted only to the value of the card and does not run into thousands as in the case of a credit card. ltz Cash does not charge anything as operational cost. Thus, the customer gets full value for the money paid, Gurpreet added. You will get a mail from IRCTC in case of any errors while booking your ticket. In this case, you will get a full refund for the ltz Cash card used. In case you want to cancel your booking, the usual rules for rail cancellation charges will apply. Launched in November 2003, Itz Cash is India's first multi-purpose, pre-paid card that enables consumers to conveniently shop online, book railway tickets, buy Internet connection packages and play online games. Itz Cash comes in denominations of Rs 100, Rs 250, Rs 500, Rs 1,000, Rs 1,500, Rs 3,000, Rs 5,000, Rs 7,500 and Rs 10,000. Itz Cash is available across the country through 88 Asian Sky Shop franchisee networks, 4,500 Playwin retailers, 5,500 Dish TV outlets and lndiatimes shopping portal. One can simply make a phone call and place an order for the card and it gets delivered to your home. The company has already tied up with Rediffcom, Asian Sky Shop, HCL Infinet, Dish TV and Playwin, to provide value options to consumers. The Itz Cash card, after purchasing a rail ticket online, can be used to shop across several available options. Gurpreet said the number of users registered with Itz Cash had already touched 1.5 lakh and this figure could go up to 10 lakh in the next few years. V Sriram, group general manager, South Zone of IRCTC, said the Railways hoped to increase online ticketing traffic in the days to come. Options like E-ticketing were also being contemplated. For the common man, the biggest advantage in using an Itz Cash card was that it could be used and disposed of conveniently. The facility of cash card is expected to benefit those who do not have credit/debit cards and thus take Internet railway reservation facility to the common man and empower him to book rail tickets on the Internet, Sriram added.
