By a quirk of fate, it was Prabhu who gained acceptance as an actor inheriting Sivaji Ganesan's legacy though the veteran thespian had set his hopes on his other son, Ramkumar, and not
Prabhu.
According to family sources, Prabhu was considered too playful and lacking in concentration when Sivaji attempted to train his sons to be successful as actors.
Ramkumar was trained in the art of acting. Sivaji, it is said, hoped he would become a good actor in his mould, picking up the nuances.
However, for Ramkumar, his voice proved to be a big letdown. It didn't sound like Sivaji's. Prabhu's voice, on the other hand, sounded very much like that of Sivaji. Prabhu too came across a chirpy person, a chubby character.
For Sivaji, it was another disappointment as Ramkumar's acting career didn't take off. Prabhu's fortunes soared.
There were personal problems too for some time in the relationship with Prabhu, but father and son patched up later. Prabhu is a devoted son and acting with his father in quite a few films.
Ramkumar took over most of the business management, it is said, to assist his father. (Our Correspondent)
