Hungarian cultural week in Chennai
A Hungarian Cultural Week is being organised in Chennai in association with the Hungarian Information and Cultural Centre, New Delhi, and the Hony. Consul of Hungary, Chennai.
A Hungarian Folk Music Concert was presented by members of the Hungarian State Folk Ensemble (Instrumental and vocal Hungarian folk music collected by Beta Bartok) on March 19, 2006, at the South Indian Film Chamber Auditorium.
Eminent Carnatic vocalist M Balamuralikrishna inaugurated the concert.
The members of the ensemble are the best known representatives of Hungarian folk music throughout the world.
The Hungarian Stamp Exhibition will be held at Amethyst, Sundar Mahal, Padmavathiar Street, Gopalapuram, Chennai 600 086. It will be iaugurated by Dr Imre Lazar, director, Cultural Counsellor, Hungarian Information and Cultural Centre, New Delhi, at 10.30 a.m. on March 20.
The Hungarian Film Festival will be held at the South Indian Film Chamber Theatre, 606, Anna Salai, Chennai 600 006 from March 20-23. It will be inaugurated by Sheela Rani Chunkath, secretary, Health and Family Welfare Dept., Government of Tamil Nadu, at 6.15 p.m. on March 20.
