Artists camp at DakshinaChitra
The artists camp, titled 'Fluid Signs: Perceptions and Identity', will be held at DakshinaChitra, Muttukadu, Chennai, from September 22 to 30, 2006, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
The camp brings together seven artists from across India to live and work together at the DakshinaChitra centre. The camp will present an opportunity to re-look at the identity and image of the male in today's (fluid socio-cultural) context.
Tamara, an artist from Sweden, will be a resource person for this camp and will be working with the artists. There will be other artists from the visual, literary and performing arts who will interact with the participating artists. There will also be slide presentations of the artists' earlier/recent works. The interactive sessions will be at 6 p.m. everyday. Visitors are welcome to interact with the artists during the entire duration of the camp.
The camp will be inaugurated by Sadanand Menon, art critic, at 11.30 a.m. at
DakshinaChitra.
The valedictory session will be held on September 30, at 4.30 p.m. (at
DakshinaChitra).
Writer Indran will deliver the valedictory address and have an open discussion with the artists and the audience. Rm. Palaniappan (Regional Secretaty, Lalit Kala Akademi, R.C., Chennai) will be the chief guest for the evening.
