Kumaran Silks, a leading textile and garment manufacturer of Chennai, has contributed a '2007 ft saree' to the Parshwa Padmavathi Jain Temple, Krishnagiri. The textile major has claimed that this is the world's longest saree made in the shortest possible time of 14 days and that it has entered the Guinness Book of World Records.
The Shree Parshwa Padmavathi Seva Trust conducted the first-ever, historic consecration of the Parshwa Padmavathi Jain Temple, Krishnagiri, in 2005.
The live force behind this huge construction was a young man of mid-thirties, Shri Vasanth
Gurudev.
Kumaran Silks, established in 1955, is one of the pioneers in traditional silk sarees. However, the Jain community people do not use pure silk sarees. Kumaran Silks had specially created this saree with silkcon, which looks like pure silk. The '2007 ft saree', made in green and yellow, with double-side border, has used a traditional combination and design.
The company handed over the saree to the Parshwa Padmavathi Sakthipeet Jain Temple in the presence of Shri Vasanth Gurudev at a glittering function in
Chennai.
Robert, a representative of the Guinness Book of World Records, UK, attended the function and handed over the certificate to Shri Vasanth Gurudev in the presence of partners of Kumaran Silk - P R Babbu, P R Subramanian, P R Kesavan and P R Kumar, for this achievement of the world's longest saree made in a short span of time.
The Certificate from Guinness says, "The record for the longest saree offered to Goddess Padmavathi measured 2007 feet" and was received by Shri Vasanth Gurudev in Chennai on May 1, 2007.
