Best of Python Hyssssteria is a show with an all new design (new choreography, actors, handpicked sketches) - this promises to be more madness, more frenzy, more absurdity and at the end of the day, much, much more fun!

Short comic sketches, interspersed with rock-n-roll, foot-tapping music and aptly choreographed dance routines form the basic format of the show. It features tiny furniture, big props, song 'n' dance routines and weird surprises for the audience. The sketches offer little snapshots into the lives of seemingly normal people, in supposedly conventional settings and presumably natural intentions. Humour, here, is essentially drawn from the reversal of everyday situations and hence the bewildered reactions of people you see around you all the time.

Simply understanding, or trying to understand the views of these bizarre, yet strangely normal 'Python-esque' people, forms the essence of the show, which is presented in 17 sketches - the show running for 80 minutes.

This show never has a blackout - with backstage changing sets in full lights while dancing to music and is complemented by some of the funniest actors on the Chennai stage.

It's SIDE-A of the best of a classic - and the best thing is - you don't need to be a theatre buff to enjoy theatre this summer!

About Monty Python:

Monty Python, or The Pythons, is the collective name of the creators of Monty Python's Flying Circus, a British television comedy sketch show that first aired on the BBC on October 5, 1969. The Python phenomenon developed from the original television series into something much larger in scope and impact, spawning touring stage shows, five films, numerous albums, several books and a spin-off stage musical, and launching the members on to individual stardom.

The television series, broadcast by the BBC, was conceived, written and performed by Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones and Michael Palin. Loosely structured as a sketch show but with an innovative stream-of-consciousness approach (aided by Terry Gilliam's animations), it pushed the boundaries of what was then considered acceptable, both in terms of style and in content. They also came together for four movies: 'And Now for Somethin Completely Different', 'Monty Python and the Holy Grail', 'Monty Python and the Life of Brian' and 'Monty Python and The Meaning Of Life'.

In a 2005 poll, to find The Comedian's Comedian, three of the six members were voted among the top 50 greatest comedians ever, by fellow comedians and comedy insiders. Palin was at No. 30, Idle was voted 21st and Cleese was at two, just beaten to the top by Peter Cook.

Evam, the Chennai entertainment entrepreneurship, started in Chennai in September 2003 with the sole purpose of bringing in the people back to the theatre seats – offering them high class entertainment that can be described as fun, classy and time well spent!

Three-and-a-half years now, the audiences have grown five-fold and now stand at more than 7,000 individuals for each of our plays. Evam has done 13 plays, 160 shows in these three years, performed across Chennai, Bangalore, Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Coimbatore. Evam is envisioned to be a story factory – capable of conceiving a good tale, and being able to deliver it as a complete project to its audience, in whatever format it finds suitable – theatre, television or cinema, or delectable combinations of them all, says its spokesman.
