Sarala's Art Centre is organising an art
exhibition of six artists, called 'Maya', at Art World, Chennai.
The show, which opens September 3 at 6.30
p.m., will feature the works of Asma Menon, Athiveera Pandian T,
Gayatri Gamuz, Radha Chandrashekaran, V Ravindran and B O
Shailesh.
Asma Menon: Born in 1961, Asma is an MFA in
painting from the Government College of Arts and Crafts,
Chennai. She has held over 10 solo shows and has participated in
many group shows within and outside India.
Athiveera Pandian T: Born in 1966, Pandian
has an MFA degree, painting, Government College of Arts and
Crafts, Chennai. A junior fellow of the Ministry of Human
Resource Development, Government of India, he has won several
awards. He has held groups show in various parts of the country.
His painting collections can be seen at the Chennai museum and
Regional Lalit Kala Akademi, Chennai.
Gayatri Gamuz: Born in 1966 in Spain, Gayatri
studied in the arts school in Alicante and in the School of
Ceramics in Manises,Valencia. Gayatri, who lives in India, has
had solo shows in Spain, Berlin, Barcelona, Australia and
England. She has also been a part of group shows in various
parts of India.
Radha Chandrashekaran: Radha has a Masters in
fine art from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and Bachelor
of fine art degree from the Art Academy of Cincinnati, USA. She
is currently a consultant/faculty at Srishti School of Art
Design and Technology, Bangalore, India. She has won a number of
awards for her works which have been collected in museums and
galleries nationally and internationally.
V Ravindran: Born in 1976 at Kovilpatti,
Tamil Nadu, Ravindran is a BFA (sculpture) from the Government
College of Arts and Crafts, Chennai. He has held exhibitions and
group shows in various parts of India almost every year from
1995 onwards.
B O Shailesh: Born in Shimoga, Karnataka in
1970, Shailesh holds a BFA degree in painting from Karnataka
University. He has received nine awards and is currently
part-time lecturer (painting) for P G students at the Government
College of Arts, Chennai. He has held solo exhibitions and
participated in group shows in Delhi and Chennai. He does video
art and installation and his films are collections of some
private collectors from India and Germany.
