Shree Krishna expands in TN

Shree Krishna Collection (SKC), one of Chennai's leading apparel showrooms, will launch two more mega outlets in Coimbatore and Chennai on October 7th and 9th. This expansion will add 60,000 sq ft to the existing 67,000 sq ft and SKC will now command a total area of 127,000 sq ft thereby making Shree Krishna Collection one of the biggest players in the retail business in south India.

Plans are afoot to add another 35,000 sq ft by December 2005 to make a total of 165,000 sq ft. Each of these expansion plans has cost the company Rs 10 crore, making for an additional investment of Rs 30 crore.

Praful Bisani, managing director, Shree Krishna Collection, said, "There is tremendous opportunity in the retail segment. Our understanding of the market and the success in the last few years has given us the confidence that we can succeed in any market provided we do our homework well."

SKC, which now has four showrooms in Purasawalkam and two in T Nagar, offers a complete range of garments to the whole family. Top of the line ethnic garments are also available along with well-known brands like AlIen Solly, Pepe Jeans, Lee, Color Plus and Levi's. All the showrooms have been designed keeping the customer in mind by well-known Mumbai architect Gautam Desai, Bisani said.

He added that "The growth strategy is two-pronged - size and high fashion. The comapny plans to open many more retail outlets in prospective areas in thc metros and mini-metros across India. The employee strength has also grown and will touch 1,000 soon."

Kicking off its expansion plans outside Chennai, SKC will enter Coimbatore where a 25,000 sq ft mega showroom will be inaugurated on October 7, at R.S Puram. The additional shworoom in T Nagar is of 35,000 sq ft. SKC will open more outlets in south India in the coming year.

SKC closed the fiscal of 2004-05 with a turnover of Rs 57 crore and expects to touch a figure of Rs 175 crore by 2007.
