Cinema Paradiso's P365 scheme
Think movies, think Cinema Paradiso. Think big, think P365. It can hardly get bigger than this as Cinema Paradiso, the exclusive DVD rental library, launches P365, a unique concept of one new release everyday for the next 365 days to come. P365 aims at making available new titles all through the year for customers who are bored with the regular flicks.
The three youth icons of the Tamil film world, directors Gautham Menon, Selvaragavan and Peraarasu, who have planned to release their films on April 14, were present to commence the new scheme. Gautham, Selvaragavan and Peraarasu share the common thread of being extremely passionate about films.
Cinema Paradiso deals not only with regular commercial movies but also specialises in offering rare flicks to its nembers. It comprises over 30 unique sections which include director series, commercials, award winners, world cinema, Oscar winners, criterion collcction, television series, special interest, classics, kids and many others.
With the primary agenda of making meaningful films accessible to all, as a part of P365, Cinema Paradiso plans to dedicate certain weeks of the year exclusively for world cinema. For starters, there will be a whole week dedicated to Iranian movies. Works of eminent directors such as Majid Majiidi, Mohsen Makhmalbaf,
Abbas Kiarostami which were practically inaccessible other than in film festivals, will now be available in Cinema Paradiso. Similarly, an entire week will be dedicated to German, French, Russian, Japanese and Italian films that have earned rave reviews at various film festivals.
In an attempt to curb the rampant piracy in the film industry, Cinema Paradiso has direct tie-ups with the Hollywood studios and will be bringing in titles two weeks prior to the release in the US. This way one can comfortably view the movies at the convenience of the home, without opting for a pirated copy. For instance, the award-winning Capote, Paradise Now and popular titles such as Derailed, The Squid and Whale, which is slated for release only on March 21, is available now in Cinema
Paradiso.
Keeping in mind the forthcoming summer vacations, Cinema Paradiso has an exclusive week dedicated for children's films. In this week not only kids movies will be featured but also educational material, interesting documentaries and wildlife series for children.
During the course of P365, Cinema Paradiso plans to introduce some of the special editions of popular movies. For instance, it plans to release the special edition of Titanic which has over four hours of behind-the-scenes footage and what went actually into the rnaking of this saga. Sirnilarly, extended editions and special editions of movies such as Lord of the Rings, Lawrence of Arabia and many other titles will be launched during P365.
Apart from Oscar winning movies, one can also find movies which won awards at various festivals such as Sundance, Berlin Film Festival, Cannes, Golden Globe and others.
Cinema Paradiso also has a special offer for all its customers. The first customer under the P365 scheme gets a DVD absolutely rent-free for the next year to follow.
