Sivaji Productions' Hindi venture

Sivaji Productions, the production house of late Sivaji Ganesan and his family, has signed up ace director Rajkumar Santoshi and music director A R Rahman for a forthcoming Hindi film.

Ramkumar, director of Sivaji Productions and son of Sivaji Ganesan, told Chennaionline that the movie would be a blockbuster, with a likely investment of Rs 15-20 crore.

The star cast for the film is currently under negotiation, he said, adding that the film was tentatively titled 'Toofan Mail', though no final decision had yet been taken on the title. "The script is getting ready," he said.

"This will be a modern subject; definitely not a period film like Devadas," says Ramkumar with a don't-ask-me-for-details smile.

"The cast would be finalised by July and the film would go on the floors from December or January 2007," he said.

Meanwhile, work had commenced on another another Hindi film, 'Delhiiheights' - you can even call it Delhiites, says Ramkumar. This will be a breezy film, reminiscent of the Basu Chatterji-Hrishikesh Mukherjee pattern, of a young couple in Delhi, who go through a difficult period, some misunderstanding but ultimately everything turns out well for them. This film is under production and is slated for a Deepavali release this October.

The cast consists of Jimmy Shergill, Neha Dhupia, Om Puri, Rohit Roy, Simone Singh, Vivek Shauq and Kamini Khanna.

Direction is by Anand Kumar, screenplay and dialogue by Sanyukta Chawla.

"The exciting part of the movie is the music by Rabbi Shergill, who will provide a mix of Punjabi/Sufi music. This is his first movie but he has already created waves with his private albums. He is especially popular for his Punjabi numbers in the albums and there are rave reviews about his live performances including in Pakistan," says Ramkumar.

"Three songs have already been recorded while we will have another two or three songs. In all, we will have two Punjabi numbers and three or four in Hindi," Ramkumar said.
