Kamal is a role model, says Rajni
Actor Rajnikant lavished praise on colleague Kamal Haasan at the launch of director P Vasu's next film 'Thottaal Poo Malarum' with his son Shakti introduced as the hero, at a function in Chennai recently.
Rajni echoed the view of Telugu actor N T Balakrishna that actors in the sixties and seventies had to put in a lot of hard work. Rajni said it was difficult to get an opening in those years and it was true that actors had to work extremely hard. Today, entry was easier for newcomers but durablity was not easy as actors would have to work extremely hard to maintain their position.
He referred to the untiring efforts of Kamal Haasan in maintaining excellence in the film industry and said he was a role model for all actors and all those aspiring to be in the film industry.
The actor, referring to director Vasu's comment that he was grateful to Rajnikant for providing him a turning point in his career through 'Chandramukhi', said on the other hand, he was grateful to Vasu for providing him a turning point through 'Chandramukhi'. Throughout his carrer, Vasu had provided him big hits at vital stages of his career whether it be 'Panakkaran', 'Mannan' or 'Uzhaippali', he said.
Kamal said an actor required the support of good parents, a good producer and a good director, and pointed out that he had the support of good parents, a good producer in Saravanan and a good director in his formative days. Shakti had all the three vital ingredients for his first film, and thus he was bound to do well, Kamal added.
Among others who wished the new venture well were producer A V M Saravanan, director K Balachander and actress Jayapradha.
