The
film opens like
a pleasant
family drama.
You get to see a
typical 'filmy'
family bubbling
with joy getting
ready for the
marriage of a
young girl
belonging to the
family. Ten
minutes into the
film, you
realize that it
is anything but
pleasant.
Director Kodi Ramakrishna is back with 'Arundhathi', a fantasy
thriller about the reincarnation of a girl to save her family from a
wicked spirit, is spine-chilling! The mystery begins when an invisible
force puts hurdles to the marriage of Arundhati (Anushka), the great
grand daughter of Kandarva Kottai Maharaja, who lived in the early part
of 20th century.
Princess Jekkamma, an expert in painting, dancing and fighting,
punishes her sister's husband Pasupathi (Sonu Sood), a womanizer, and
throws him out of the country. Pasupathy, who miraculously survives,
thanks to the help of some 'Aghoras', acquires immense powers by intense
practice. He comes back to Kandarva Kottai to take revenge on Jakkamma.
Subsequently, when she buries him alive, Pasupathy becomes an evil
spirit and makes life miserable for Jakkamma and her kingdom. Arundhathi
aka Jakkamma sacrifices her life in a bid to settle scores with the evil
force.

Arundati all
set to make
history
Arundhathi of current times realizes that she is the rebirth of her
great grandmother. How Arundhathi, with the help of a Fakir (Sayaji
Shinde) eliminates the powerful spirit is the rest of the story.
Arundhathi has come out as an interesting revenge drama with fantasy
as its core. Director Kodi Ramakrishna (smart execution), SFX team
(seamless visual effects), and the amazing Anushka are the main reasons
for the movie to come up triumph as an entertainer. The terror effect
has been achieved with a credible and racy script. There are a few minor
flaws here and there, but the strength of the script carries the film
with ease.
Anushka, has made an emphatic statement that she could handle meaty
roles if given a chance. She plays the bold queen, with amazing grace
and majesty and looks pleasant and soft as present day's Arundhathi, her
beautiful eyes and body language doing wonders.
Sonu Sood, as a ruthless womanizer and en evil spirit is quite
convincing. Shayaji Shinde comes out with a strong performance while
Manorama and Sathyanarayana are competent.
Rahul Nambiar has done a wonderful job in graphics works. Editor Raja
Marthand's smart work has ensured the pace without much hindrance.
Cinematography by K Senthil Kumar is quite good.
Koti's music is effective and apt for a thriller. Tamil dubbing is
near perfect.
Arundhathee has an enthralling script, excellent performances and
amazing visual effects that would keep the audiences interest intact
throughout the proceedings.
