‘Boys’ may have been a debacle, but Bharat, one of its heroes, has since carved a niche for himself as a dependable actor who can deliver in roles that call for spontaneous, natural acting. After films like ‘Kadhal’ and ‘Veyil’ Bharat has yet another challenging role in his new film ‘Koodal
Nagar’.
Or rather two roles, for the actor is playing his first dual role in this film. One is named Suryan and the other,
Chandran.
The film has him sharing frames with two heroines, Bhavna and Sandhya. With Madurai as the backdrop, it’s about a youth who raises his voice against injustice and takes on the might of the local bigwig, played by
Mahadevan.
At Dindigul, a fight scene was picturised between Bharat and Mahadevan, with Super Subbarayan choreographing it. The first schedule of the shoot took place at Madurai, with the unit then shifting to Dindigul to picturise the fight and other crucial scenes. A lavish set resembling a village was designed at Dindigul. Some scenes were also shot on Bharat, Bhavana and Sandhya there.
A stint of shooting also took place at locations in Karaikudi and
Kodaikanal.
The film’s cinematographer is M S Prabhu, setting the tune for the songs is Srikanth Deva, while V T Vijayan is in charge of editing. The supporting cast includes Indu who plays Bharat’s mother, Ilavarasu, Manobala, and
Lakshmanan.
Produced by Senthilkumar-Ganesh for Annamalai Film (P) Ltd., the film is scripted and directed by debutant Seenu Ramasamy who has apprenticed under director Seeman.
