 After his successful debut as hero in 'Thalainagaram',
director Sundar C. is on to his second film where he plays the
protagonist. 'Veerappu' is the remake of the successful
Mohanlal-starrer 'Sphadigam'. Paired with Sundar is Gopika, who
plays a school teacher.
The story centers on the conflict between a father, a strict
disciplinarian who wants his son to follow in his footsteps, and
a son who likes to strike his own path.
Picking up fights, drowning himself in alcohol and keeping
company with women of dubious reputation, the son is often the
target of the police who haul him up for his violent lifestyle.
Sundar plays the son, and
Prakashraj, the father. Tejashri is the woman with the dubious
reputation.
Two scenes were picturised in
Tirunelveli, in one of it's busy lanes and at the railway
station. It had Sundar and Tejashri being arrested by the police
and paraded through the
streets.
The supporting cast includes
Vivek, Santhanam, Delhi Kumar, Vichu, Suprith, Shobhraj, Sumrita,
Santhoshi, Ramya and Prem.
