'Pugaippadam',
which
promises to
be in a
different
league as
films like 'Subramaniapuram',
'Vennila
Kabadikuzhu'
and 'Pasanga'
also marks
the
return to
Kollywood of
Gangai
Amaren, the
singer-composer-lyricist-director-producer
brother of
'Maestro'
Ilaiyaraja,
this time as
music
director. If
the three
songs
screened at
the audio
launch are
anything to
go by, then
the film
ought to be
a
quality-filled
one.
Amaren's
sons
Venkatprabhu
and Premji
Amaren were
present to
witness
their dear
daddy's
comeback.

Amaren,
known for
his casual
talk, says
"I love and
worship my
work,
irrespective
of the
remuneration
it gives me.
The director
of this film
told me that
he wanted
someone from
Ilaiyaraaja's
family to
score music
for the film
and I asked
why he
didn't go to
either Yuvan
or Karthik.
I, however,
agreed to
compose the
music and
have done my
best."
Amaren
said on a
lighter vein
that, "I
don't claim
that I'm
back and
that music
in Tamil
films would
be revived
to its past
glory, etc.
I haven't
done any
different
vis-à-vis
composing
music for
the film and
have only
'renovated'
some
oft-heard
tunes. I bet
my head that
the fans
might not be
able to
locate the
origin of
the songs in
the film,
unless I
disclose it
myself."
