Jai-starrer
'Vaamanan',
directed by
debutant
Ahmed, is
now ready
for release.
Ahmed till
recently
been working
as a
programme
host in a
Malaysian
television
channel with
a whopping
salary. The
film,
started with
an estimated
2-crore
rupees
budget, has
now been
completed
with a
7-crore
rupees
budget.
One is
not sure
whether the
producer,
who had been
telling that
the director
was his
friend and
as such he
won't mind
overshooting
the budget,
would stick
to his
stance now.
The
producer's
other film,
Selvaraghavan-directed
'Aayirathil
Oruvan', has
overshot its
budget as
well by
several
crores and
now stands
at Rs.21
crores. The
audio-launch
of the film,
is scheduled
on this
month.
Meanwhile,
queries
about the
story of 'Vaamanan'
revealed
that the
story is the
case of 'old
wine in a
new bottle'
and revolves
around
diamond
smuggling.
The hero who
manages to
lay his
hands on a
precious
diamond
places it in
the handbag
of an
actress and
the story is
about how he
retrieves
the diamond
from the
actress.
Namitha was
first
considered
for the role
which
eventually
went to the
tall and
twisty
Lakshmi Rai.
