Jeevan is elated for he gets to share frames with five top heroines in his new film ‘Naan Avanillai’. Remaking old films is becoming a trend not just in Mumbai but with Tamil films too. And it seems that this film, a remake of the K Balachander film of the same name, has beaten the rest, to be the first to hit the theatres. It centers on a conman who marries five women. And Jeevan plays the role
Gemini Ganesan had played in the earlier version. After his commendable performance in a role with negative shades in ‘Thiruttu Payale’, this role should be yet another challenging one for the upcoming actor. The heroines with him are Sneha, Namitha, Malavika, Jyotirmayi and Kirthi
Chawla.
No stopping Prakashraj
‘Poi’ may have let him down, but Prakashraj’s new release
‘Mozhi’ has proved a good money-spinner at the box office. And together with Jyotika and Prithwiraj, Prakashraj’s performance too is being appreciated by the audience. And now the actor-producer is on to his next film. One hears that this time Prakashraj has given the responsibility of direction to Suhasini. It is likely that Revathi would play the central role. Suhasini, after her debut as a director in ‘Indira’, hasn’t picked up the megaphone a second time.
A good break for Narain
Ameer is happy for despite all the heartburning, the criticisms and the hurdles, his film
‘Paruthiveeran’ has turned out to be a blockbuster. And now Ameer is on to his next film. There was some talk earlier that Surya would be starring in it. But it looks like Amir is looking for an actor without any image to star in his new film. One hears that it is Narain (of
‘Chithiram Pesuthadi’ and
‘Nenjirikkum Varai’ fame), who might well be Ameer’s new hero. For Narain, shuttling between his Tamil and Malayalam assignments, this may well be a step up in the Tamil film arena.
Madhavan the dialogue writer
Mumbai director–producers duo Abbas-Masthan enter the Tamil film scene as producers. The producer-director duo that has directed blockbusters like ‘Bazigar’, is into producing the Tamil film ‘Evano Oruvan’. The film is a remake of an award-winning Marathi film that was directed by Nishikanth. And it’s he who has been roped in to direct the Tamil version too. The film has Madhavan playing the hero with Sangitha as the heroine. Madhavan also pens the dialogue for the film. The Marathi film, titled ‘Dombivili Fast’, has earned various awards and was a much appreciated entertainer. It should be a landmark film in Madhavan’s career.
