Vikram's fans await with anticipation his new film Bheema. It is
the coming together of the successful pair of ‘Samy’ Vikram and
Trisha. Dealing with the underworld, the script has plenty of
action, romance and sentiment. Shot at locations in Switzerland,
New Zealand, Chennai and Madurai among other places, the film,
produced by A M Ratnam, is directed by Lingusamy. Vikram’s last
release was 'Maja' and that was about a year ago. And it had
just a lukewarm response.
S Ve Shekar's son debuts as hero
Actor-politician S Ve Shekar takes time off from his busy
schedule to launch his son as a hero. Ashwin, who is doing his
masters in Mass Communication, debuts as a hero in ‘Vegam’. The
film is directed by Udayshanker who had earlier directed 'Padhavi
Pramanam'. Playing the female lead is Archana. Apart from S Ve
Shekhar, who plays a crucial role in the film, there is Prabhu
and Khushbu too. The duo are sharing frames after a long gap.
Khushbu plays a schoolteacher who is kidnapped while Prabhu is
the cop who heads the rescue team.
Dhanush unruffled
The
film may have been a big hit in its Kannada version. But the
remake in no way matched the earlier version's success. 'Jogi'
was a big hit at the box office in Karnataka and it spurred
producer KR to remake it in Tamil with Dhanush as the hero. But
the calculations proved wrong and 'Parattai Engira Azhagu
Sundaram' proved a disappointment.
But Dhanush has no need to worry for he does have his share of
offers. There is his new film 'Yarudi Nee Mohini' where he is
paired with Nayanthara. And there is ‘Pollathavan’ too.
Sivashankar creates varalaru
It was the Ajit-starrer 'Varalaru' that
brought him to the limelight. Dancer-choreographer Sivashankar
has been choreographer-dancer for two decades, and composed
dances for more than 700 films in various languages. His fast
dance movements for the film 'Thiruda Thirudi', shot on Dhanush
and Chaya Singh, earned him appreciation. “But what earned me
respect was Varalaru,” says Sivashankar. One of the roles Ajith
played in the film was of a classical dancer, who was effeminate
in his mannerisms. Director K S Ravikumar had requested the
dance master to be on the sets and guide Ajit about his body
language. Sivashankar also composed a dance number, and got to
play a role too. And now the choreographer has got the chance to
compose dance for a Japanese film. “I’ve just returned from
Japan and I feel so honoured that they called me to choreograph
a dance,” says Sivashankar.
Suriya to play dual role
The Suriya-Asin team, which had regaled
audiences with its on-screen chemistry in 'Ghajini', is to come
together again for the new film 'Vel'. The film is to be
directed by Hari, and this is the director’s second teaming up
with Surya after 'Aaru'. The film, produced by Rajakaliamman
Medias, is to be shot at various locations in Tamil Nadu. Slated
to be a wholesome family entertainer, one hears that Suriya
would be playing a dual role in the film.
