TN 07 AL 4777 is almost a perfect remake
of the Hindi movie Taxi Number 9211. Director Lakshmi Kanthan has
ensured en engrossing trip through a day's life of a two persons hailing
from different backgrounds. The interesting script, right cast,
performances, and background score have made the ride enjoyable.

The story is about meeting of fates of a rich guy (Goutham, played by
Ajmal) caught in a legal tussle of inheritance and a desperate call taxi
driver (Manikandan, played by Pasupathi) crippled by economic problems.
The rich man's desperation puts him and the taxi driver in to bigger
troubles. While Goutham loses his strong position to reclaim the
property of his father, Mani almost loses his family. Both are at rage
against each other, as each of them thinks that the other guy is
responsible for his predicament.

The hunting game starts and eventually both find themselves in a same
position: dithered by their near and dear ones besides losing their
base. The climax shows you how they face the situation and make
amendments in their lives.
Lakshmi Kanthan has deftly adapted the original version and made it
suitable for the Tamil context. He has also extracted good performances
besides executing the scenes on the streets perfectly. However, there
are some loopholes in the script. Why Ajmal could not get an adjournment
citing the real reason? How come Ajmal knows that Pasupathi is in the
school? Moreover, the way Ajmal's friends and lover (Meenakshi) ditch
him lacks credibility.
But these lacunas could not mar the overall impact made possible by
deft execution. The director deserves complements for portraying the
characters with shades and handling the emotional sequences between
Pasupathi and Simran, who plays his wife.
Pasupathi plays the role played by veteran Nana Patekar in the Hindi
version. Though he might pale in comparison with Patekar, there is no
denying the fact that he has done an excellent job in bringing about the
plight and predicaments of the character. His histrionics in the school
are worth mentioning.
Ajmal, relatively a newcomer, too manages to do justice for the role
handled well by John Abraham in the Hindi original.Simran as the wife of
Pasupathi adds strength to the role by her solid performance while
Meenakshi, as the girlfriend of Ajmal, looks good and acts competently.
There is nothing much to write about Vijay Anthony's music, as no
song stays in your mind. But he has done well in background score.
Gurudev's cinematography adds value to the movie.
