The audio-launch of ‘Aadhavan’, directed by K.S. Ravikumar and starring Suriya and Nayantara in lead roles, was held yesterday in the city. Suriya chose to do something that wouldn’t have struck any other actor. Suriya referred to Murali (Mollywood actor), his co-star in ‘Aadhavan’ and who passed away recently, and asked the audience and those seated on the dais to observe a minute’s silence in memory of the departed soul.

The silence in the hall was deafening. Mostly, such ‘observance’ is reserved exclusively to Tamil actors. Though Murali is a big name in Malayalam film industry and had even won the ‘national award’ for best actor, he had only done minor roles in Tamil films (‘Ram’, ‘Polladhavan’, ‘etc.). The fans couldn’t conceal their appreciation of Suriya for being so magnanimous in having extended to Murali the honour of observance of silence.
