Of
late, Tamil
film makers'
passion to
have Madurai
as the
backdrop of
the story of
their films
has been on
the rise. In
those films,
it has also
become
customary
for the
directors of
these films
to show the
hero to be
sporting a
'ready-to-kill'
kind of huge
sickle in
his hand.
Ameer's 'Kannabiran',
however,
would shy
off the
beaten track
and would be
depicting a
Madurai sans
violence and
sickles.
The film
would bring
together for
the first
time the
talented duo
of 'Jeyam'
Ravi and
pretty
Priyamani.
Says Ameer:
"Tamil films
over the
years have
depicted
Madurai
almost like
the 'crime
capital' of
Tamil Nadu.
In some way,
I too have
to share the
blame for it
and I accept
it
wholeheartedly.
In order to
mitigate the
'sinful'
act, I have
decided to
show through
Kannabiran
the other
side of
Madurai."
"The film
would surely
be showing
the
characteristic
satire
indulged in
so casually
by
neatly-clad
Maduraiites.
I have asked
'Jeyam' Ravi
to put on
more weight
to suit his
character in
the film,"
is all Ameer
would say
about his
upcoming
film. Ameer
added that
scribes have
already
started
asking him
whether he
would be
completing
the movie as
per schedule
or would it
also be
delayed like
his films 'Paruthiveeran'
and 'Yogi'
and about
the budget
of the film.
How can
it be
revealed at
this
preliminary
stage, Ameer
shoots back!
