Producer
'Kalaipuli'
Thanu
appears to
be still
reeling
under the
defeat of
Kamal's 'Aalavandhan'
more than a
decade ago.
As if to
'checkmate'
Kamal on the
eve of the
release of
his 'Unnaipol
Oruvan',
Thaanu has
'booked in
advance' all
the leading
cinema halls
in Tamil
Nadu for a
couple of
months
starting
from 20th
August.
Though he
has done so
in view of
the release
of his
much-awaited
'Kandhasamy',
his move has
taken many
in the
Kollywood by
surprise.

Known for
his grandeur
way of doing
things,
Thaanu has
reportedly
decided to
release 1000
prints of 'Kandhasamy',
out of 600
would be in
Tamil Nadu
itself. This
has
obviously
upset Kamal
Haasan's
plans of
releasing
his 'Unnaipol
Oruvan' in
August
itself. The
theatres
that Kamal
could get
hold of are
also not up
to the
'mark'.
In the
behind-the-scene
tussle that
reportedly
goes on
between the
leading
producer and
a leading
actor,
average-budget
films like 'Aval
Peyar
Thamizharasi'
have been
caught up
and are
struggling
to find
theatres for
a release.
