Actress
Pooja, who had given a sterling performance as a blind beggar girl in
Bala’s ‘Naan Kadavul’, was hoping that she would be flooded with offers
to act in new films after the film’s release. The film, which is running
successfully for over four weeks now, unfortunately hasn’t generated any
new film offers for Pooja thought her portrayal of the role did come in
for appreciation from the public as well as the media.
The Sri Lanka-born Pooja had even taken the trouble of dubbing in her
own voice for the film, probably with the (national) awards committee in
mind. A few years ago, actress Simran came close to getting the
national award for her role in Maniratnam’s ‘Kannathil Muthamittal’ but
at the last moment it was decided against her since she hadn’t dubbed
for the film in her own voice. Pooja has got her basics right for
this film and hopes that she would be collecting quite a few awards.
