The
Votes are in and the Verdict is out...Vijay TV's '8.30
Manikku Enna Paarkalaam' contest has seen the serial 'Madurai'
emerge as winner.
This novel concept, in which
the viewers choose what they want to see, hit television screens
on April 30, 2007. The show featured six different stories over
six weeks and the viewers had to choose their favourite serial.
The show was hosted by actress-director Suhasini Maniratnam who
took the viewers through each of the stories and analysed them
threadbare.
One winner which was favoured
by the audiences was to be chosen and would continue to air as
the mega serial at 8.30 p.m.
Leading production houses like
Magickarma, Yantra Media Pvt Ltd, Touring Talkies Mediaworks Pvt
Ltd, Sri Shapdha, Manus Visions and Widescreen Entertainment Pvt
Ltd were a part of this endeavour.
Last week, special awards were
given away to those who had turned in excellent performances in
these serials. Best actor award was given to Vijay Adhiraj for 'Sollathaan
Ninaikkirein' and Anu Haasan was awarded the best actress award
for the same soap. Best Supporting actor award was given to
Senthil and Vadivukarasi of Madurai serial.
The winner 'Madurai' is
produced by Touring Talkies and directed by Gerald. It is a
story about people, their culture, taste, traditions, customs
and their emotions.
Shot on the grounds of Madurai
city, the serial portrays a long-drawn family feud scattered
across the town of Madurai and the winds of change that take
place due to a love story blooming within the same family.
The second generation of this
family grows up without knowing that they have come from a
family that was once very big and full of love. The family feud
is amidst five siblings and has lasted over a decade. The serial
promises the flavour of Madurai captivated in the right sense.

cast stay intact.
'Madurai', chosen by the
viewers, will hit the screens of Vijay TV as a mega serial from
July 16, 2007; Monday-Thursday at 8.30 p.m.
