If the mention of Chinese cuisine instantly brings to mind images and exotic-sounding names of non-vegetarian dishes, then you are going to be in for a surprise this time. The Taj Coromandel will be hosting a fortnight long ‘Vegetarian Festival’ between June 27 and July 11, 2003 at the Golden Dragon, its famed Chinese specialty restaurant. With a host of ethnic vegetarian delights from beyond the Great Wall, the festival promises to be one of the must-attend festivals at the hotel.
Explains Mr. P K Mohankumar, General Manager, Taj Coromandel, “We have observed that there have been instances when guests have preferred to dine at our other restaurants solely because they believe that Chinese cuisine is mostly only non-vegetarian, which is not true. So, when we launched this festival last year, we were happy but not really surprised at the overwhelming response that it got. The Vegetarian Festival at the Golden Dragon is indeed one of the highlight festivals at the restaurant and the hotel.”
With the sole intention of making the experience memorable enough to last a lifetime, Chef Hardy Cheung has designed a menu featuring over forty lip-smacking, legendary royal recipes.
Some of the Master Chef’s offerings include Po Choi Lou (bun stuffed with spinach and silver noodles), Chin Cha Tofu (crispy friend bean curd served with sweet bean sauce), Chin Kwa Ku Pin Thong (clear cucumber soup with mushrooms and coriander) and Saa Cha Taai Ken Saai Lan Fa (pickled broccoli and raddish in barbeque sauce served with rice or noodles).
