 Life is one big colorful party! Especially if you are heading to the Taj Connemara. Oakshott Bar, the famed bar at the hotel is all geared to add more than just a dash of colour to make the evenings in the city brighter, week after week. From August 22, 2003 the bar has started hosting a theme evening every week, replete with authentic cuisine and appropriate decor. This will continue till September 11. As the weeks pass by, the backdrop at the bar will transform from a Hawaiian setting to a Pirates den and finally a Mexican locale, in that order.
R Pashupathy, General Manager, Taj Connemara said, “The Oakshott Bar is considered a chill-out zone, both literally and figuratively. The entire concept of the theme festival -- authentic cuisine, decor that showcases various aspects of the particular culture and, finally, the total experience in itself is very appealing. So, when the idea occurred to give our guests something desirably unique, exciting and memorable, out emerged the concept of theme evenings. We decided to choose themes that are popular, enjoyable to experience and showcase variety in cuisine and character. So, until September 11, 2003, the bar will be buzzing with frenzied activity.”
From August 22, for a week, the Hawaiian charm worked its magic on the guests streaming in. Artificial greenery, pineapples, huge floral prints, bamboos, fishing nets, boats and hammocks dotted the bar, setting the mood for a lively and fun-filled evening. But that was not all either. Moon Kiss Coconut, Aluha, Maitai, Pineapple Paradise, Hawaiian Goddess and many such exhilarating cocktails and mocktails on the Hawaiian special menu kept the evenings alive.
 The sunset on August 28 saw the pirates taking over the bar. At the entrance, cutouts of pirates greeted the guests trickling in. Pirate flags, rope ladders, cut-outs of skulls, swords and pirate loot provided a perfect setting for a hide-out that is totally chilled-out. And to make sure everyone was in high spirits, a Pirates Special menu offered some heady cocktails and
mocktails.
The week starting September 4 witnessed the Mexicans ruling the roost. Leather whips, holsters, blankets, Mexican hats and an exclusive Mexican menu showcased the place in its authentic and ethnic
flavours.
