Rub shoulders with celebs at Malgudi
Food connoisseurs in Chennai have a reason to feel special once again. A Chettinad food festival will be on at Malgudi Restaurant, Savera Hotel where the native secrets from the Chettinad cuisine will be manifested as a dinner buffet from 7 p.m. onwards from 22nd to 30th November 2003.
Padmashri Manorama Aachi will treat the guest with her culinary experience by exhibiting her unique preference for Chettinad food, offering the guests her own spot preparations. The ambience is expected to be festive with the authentic feel of the Chettinad countryside. Eminent celebrities like Suhasini, Mani Rathnam, Kushboo, Sivasankari and many more are expected to grace the occasion, thereby giving an opportunity for the guests to rub shoulders with the who-is-who of the Chennai City.
Rahool Saksena, a pioneer in using recycled materials to prepare signature art lamps, will auction his creations during the Food Fest and a part of the sale proceeds will be given to 'Rasa', an NGO to further their developmental activities. Kili Josiyam, Vallayal karan, Pottery Wheel will be added features on the sidelines for the guests to carry home fond memories of the festival.
The restaurant Malgudi has derived its name from the evergreen book, 'Malgudi Days' and was inaugurated by R K Narayan, the eminent author who wrote Malgudi Days. There will also be a live enactment of a few chosen chapters, towards the end of the festival.
