Dining by the Bay

 Food

Bay View Point, the revamped 'On-the-Beach' restaurant at the Taj Fisherman's Cove, is a seafood buff's dream come true. Banking on the shores of the Bay of Bengal, a dining experience at the thatched roof shelter is truly a delight!! From a shack that initially served hot beverages, and then alcohol, the Bay View Point's transition to a 76-cover beach side restaurant serving some delectable cuisine is indeed commendable!

As you walk towards the eatery, greeted by the sounds of the overlapping waves, the aroma of fresh fishes, lobsters, crabs, prawns et al, being cooked with spices fills your senses in no time. The centrally located kitchen and the Dispense bar, besides lending a dash of glamour, also define the character of the place. However, what makes it a favorite haunt is the rhythmic sounds and the sight of the milky waves plunging on the seashore. The ambience is indeed complimentary. And, the menu reads an exotic list of Southern coastal delicacies.

"Bay View Point is being recognised as an extremely popular 'On-the-Beach' restaurant serving excellent fresh sea food. The marine catches are sourced fresh from the Bay of Bengal. Rich cuisine, personalised service and an enchanting ambience is that what makes the dining experience at Bay View Point so enriching and pleasurable," observes Sarabjeet Singh, General Manager, Taj Fisherman's Cove.

The Specialty Southern Coastal cuisine restaurant boasts of an exclusive barbeque that grills some fascinating fare. The menu includes a variety of exotic coastal delicacies, especially of the Coromandel Coast. Chef Fabien, the master chef, who revamped the existing menu, traveled extensively to places such as Mahabalipuram, Pondicherry, Cuddalore, Karaikal, Rameswaram, Tuticorin and Kanyakumari before redesigning it. Kadamba meen varuval, era rasam, sura meen puttu, kezhangan and elaneer payasam are some of the highlights of the menu.

Remarks Chef Fabien, "Given that the restaurant specialises in seafood, it is imperative that the catch is fresh because it makes a great difference to the taste. In that sense, we are blessed with a backyard like the Bay of Bengal that assures us of fresh catch everyday."

For especially those largely in favor of coastal cuisine, Bay View Point seems the ultimate h(e)aven on earth. And for the rest, the sheer magic of the sea and the beauty of the place make it a paradise worth visiting.
