'Dough'ting On Bread, Low cal style

 Food

If you thought of bread as nothing but a plain and junk breakfast option, a visit to the Taj Coromandel will set you thinking otherwise! La Patisserie, the Pastry Shop at the Taj Coromandel is hosting a promotion on Low-cal Breads starting May 16, 2003. The promo will feature an assortment of high fiber, multi grain breads in different sizes, shapes and flavours.

“Not many are aware that there are different varieties of bread, each distinct in flavor and even aroma. When used with the right accompaniments, they make for an excellent combination. This promotion, which is indeed one of its kind, is an attempt to highlight the health & nutritious aspect of bread, by showcasing an assortment of low-cal bread varieties,” explains Mr.P K Mohankumar, General Manager, Taj Coromandel.

The bread varieties that are on offer are originally native to Germany and France, and are all baked using a mix imported especially from Germany. The varieties on offer include Dia baguette, Grainex, DarkMalt bread and Rye bread.

A typically French bread, Dia baguette contains dried wheat and is golden brown with a crisp crest. Grainex contains a mix of cereals and oil seeds consisting malted rye meal, soybean grits, oat flakes and semolina of maize that results in a fine malty flavour. Dark malt bread is a fiber and mineral enriched variety that includes a concoction of precious cereals and oil seeds, malt wheat rye, oat, soy and sunflower. The rye flour and rye meal in Rye bread gives the delicious taste of genuine sour-dough bread.

Depending on what they are served with, these breads make for an ideal dining option for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Wine and cheese; pate; smoked salmon are some of the most popular choices available. These are also widely used for snacks, sandwiches, burgers and even pizzas!!

Available currently only at the Taj Coromandel, these breads are priced between Rs.85/- to Rs. 125/- a loaf.
