'A Lebanese Affair' At 'Cappuccino'

Lebanon conjures up images of sun-drenched beaches, world-class museums, and an exciting nightlife with Beirut often being referred to as 'the Pairs of the Middle East'! The diverse cuisine of this ancient land is a true reflection of its welcoming culture.

From 6th to 15th June, 2003, ITC Hotel Park Sheraton & Towers is having a Lebanese Food Festival at 'Cappuccino', the hotel's coffee shop overlooking the pool.

The cuisine of Lebanon dates back to pre-biblical times, and, like its culture, is steeped in history. The culinary contributions from this tiny country have had the greatest impact on modern Middle Eastern cuisine, uniquely combining the sophistication and subtleties of European haute cuisines with the exotic ingredients of the Middle East and the Orient.

The epitome of the Mediterranean diet, Lebanese cuisine is considered to be one of the healthiest in the world. While the assortment of dishes and combinations are almost limitless, the focus is on herbs, spices and the freshness of ingredients. Chef Rajat Tuli, trained at the 'Marroush' at the ITC Hotel Maurya Sheraton & Towers, New Delhi, considers the cuisine as trendy.

Come and savour the hot and cold Meszze platters, an array of small dishes placed before the guests, creating an awe-inspiring array of colors, flavors, textures and aromas, with Hummus (chickpea & sesame seed paste), Tabouleh (parsley with cracked wheat), Falafel (golden fried chickpea & lentil patties ), Dajaj Kafta (minced chicken & olive kebab ), Fattoush & more. Relish aromatic shourbats and main course options such as Dajaj Shawarma (shredded marinated chicken rolled in Khubuz), Sheesh Tawook (chargrilled chunks of chicken), or perhaps the Samak Mashwi (fish kebab marinated in Lebanese spices). For the vegetarians, Chef Rajat Tuli recommends the Mousakaha (baked eggplant, chickpea & Zucchini), or the Makarona B' Leban wa Toum (spagheti with yogurt & garlic ).
