Mauritius beckons the people of Chennai! from February 19-23, and the Taj Connemara will be hosting a Mauritius Food Festival. The festival will showcase Mauritius food in India and will feature some signature specialties from the land of sunny beaches by the poolside. The food festival will begin with dinner at 7:30 p.m.
To make the experience truly Mauritian, the ambience will be done up accordingly with beach theme with decor to match the perfect mood of the celebrations. The staff will be dressed in floral shirts. However, the highlight is the Sega Dancers from Mauritius who will entertain the guests at their tables with some traditional Mauritian beats.
R Pasupathy, General Manager, Taj Connemara observes, “It has been our endeavour to ensure that we showcase the best of cuisine in terms of, both quality and variety, at our restaurant. Our food festivals have enjoyed great popularity among our guests. And considering the earlier responses to the Thai food festival, the Andhra food festival and others, we are positive that the Mauritian Festival will also be a sell out with the guests."
Mauritius food is an exciting blend of richness and simplicity. Building on this trademark characteristic, chefs Dussor Keeran, Housee Mohd. Bellal and Rakesh have whipped up an interesting menu. Some of the key dishes include shrimp salad with tropical fruits, Mauritian Crab Soup, Creole Fish stew topped with sauted coloured paprika, Marinated Chicken leg with Mauritian spices and Pineapple Creole Style.
The 5-day festival is on exclusively for dinner. Well, now you have a good reason to head out in the evenings!!
