Taj
Business Hotels has gone in for refurbishment of 65 of its deluxe guestrooms at
the Connemara in Chennai. This is in keeping with the new spirit of change being
rolled out across the Taj Business Hotels.
"Our aim in the renovation
of the Taj Connemara has been to recapture the sense of glamour and history that
this grand hotel holds in Chennai," said ]yoti Narang, Chief Operating
Officer, Taj Business Hotels. "The renovations were undertaken after
extensive research and reflect the changing needs and lifestyles of our guests.
We are giving our guests a refreshing, international look that blends in with
the rich heritage of the hotel, thereby making Taj Connemara, Chennai the
preferred choice for business travelers."
The
65 new guestrooms have been created keeping in mind the needs of the frequent
traveller, from catering to their basic needs of comfort to providing them with
options for entertainment and creating an ambience that allows them to relax and
de-stress. Right from the moment they step into the room, they will discover the
thoughtful care that has gone into refurbishing these rooms. They will be ready
by the month-end. The new rooms incorporate all the features a guest would
expect from a modern business hotel, in an elegant contemporary setting. Some of

The
first phase of the renovation has been taken up at a cost of nearly Rs seven
crore by the renowned London-based interior designers and architects, Richmond
International. The refurbishment of the deluxe guestrooms marks the beginning of
the transformation of the Taj Connemara. The restaurants, bar and lobby will be
redesigned to reflect a blend of the glory of tradition and the grandeur of
modernity.
Speaking
on the launch of the new guestrooms, R Pasupathy; General Manager, Taj Connemara,
Chennai, said, "Chennai is blossoming into a hot hub for the IT giants, the
back office of global banking leaders, the favoured locale for car manufacturers
and others. These recent renovations have reinforced Taj Connemara's leadership
role in the city as a hotel dedicated to providing guests with the convenience
and customer service they expect from the Taj brand. We believe that with its
superior product offering, the Taj Connemara will meet the ever-increasing
demands of this growing market and exceed expectations of the discerning
modern-day business traveler." In the next phase of renovation at the
Connemara, the banquet facilities, the coffee shop will be improved and a new
restaurant added, Pasupathy said.
Extensive research has been
conducted across the country to understand the needs of guests and help create a
product offering that will set the benchmark for business hotels in India, said
N Prakash, Director, Sales. The Taj Residency, Bangalore was the first hotel to
receive this makeover, with renovated banquet facilities and 40 guestrooms. This
was followed by the introduction of new banquet facilities at the Taj President,
Mumbai and now, the opening of 65 rooms at Taj Connemara, Chennai, he added.
The Taj Connemara is Chennai's
oldest 5-star hotel. The hotel combines quaint old world charm with the latest
business facilities, and offers a traveller the best of both worlds, added
