 ‘Cappuccino’, this beautiful coffee shop in
Hotel Park Sheraton Towers, Chennai, derives its name from the famous coffee. The decor is entirely done in coffee and related colors in keeping with the concept and is very strategically placed in the hotel. It has a very visible Italian influence on it.
The Cappuccino has a view of the swimming pool on one side and an open kitchen on the other. The pool view gives the guests a cool feeling while the open kitchen with bar like stools placed around it, apart from the conventional tables and chairs, giving it an informal air.
A traditional coffee machine of the original Italian kind stands proudly in the kitchen. Center tables adorn yet again coffee machines and coffee bean pots in wood. There is a large mirror facing the entrance giving the place a spacious look. Cappuccino attracts a mixed crowd. A number of corporates, celebrities, political personalities and foreigners are regulars who visit this place for a quick meal. The special advantage being food is available round the clock.
The Coffee shop has an unconventional yet elegant look. The guests can revel in the peace and quiet where ideas percolate in abundance. The menu carries extensive continental cuisine with a third of it being a perfect mix of south Indian and north Indian. A separate menu is provided for breakfast. Buffet is offered for breakfast, which spells 5-star in every dish.
 The main menu comprises two sections -- one termed
Lunch and Dinner and the other Round-the-clock. Breakfast is an art unfolding in the morning beauty. The welcoming sounds of chatter, staff whipping up a gourmet breakfast, the aroma of freshly baked breads and a host of other food and the inviting smell of freshly brewed coffee wafting in the air, the flip of newspapers, the television playing the morning news is what anyone would experience when they walk into this place for breakfast. The result of which would be anyone who walks into this place can be assured of starting their day with a smile on their face.
There is an assortment of
breads, muffins, cold cuts, fruits, fresh juices, plain and flavoured
yoghurt to choose from. Apart from this, there is also a choice of
idly, dosa, kichdi, parathas, vadas and along side delectable accompaniments. There is
skimmed and cold milk and also a choice of cereals provided for those who wish to start their day with nourishment. There are some rare fresh fruit juices like kiwi juice which becomes the unanimous choice of every guest.
Under the Lunch and Dinner part of the menu figure appetizers are
Calamari Fritti flavored squid rings fried and served with a cilantro and lemon mayonnaise,
Bruschetta Caprese among others are served without much compromise on its taste. The soups are a class by themselves. The
Shrimp and Corn Brisque has a distinct continental flavour while
Chicken Gumba is flavoured with herb giving a tinge of Indian heritage to it.
Besides this a host of other soups also contend with each other when it comes to flavour and taste. The pasta section comprises of a mélange of
Eliche, Penne, the popular Spaghetti or Farfalle with an assortment of sauces like
Romano, Bolognaise, Genoese, Prawn Pepperoncino to name a few. There is also a selection of Veg and Non-Veg
Lasagna offered.
 In the International fare which promises one the world on a platter, there is a selection of Grocchi with a choice of two sauces,
Pan Fried Tenderloin, Melanzane Al Forno baked aubergines with cheese on a bed of Oregano flavoured tomato coulis, Enchiladas and the inimitable
Park Fried Chicken which is chicken grilled and served with mushroom sauce a simple yet filling and a very tasty in-house speciality dish are among the others.
The guests are homeward bound by being offered delectable Indian specialties like the popular
Tandoori Murgh, Seekh Kabab, Allepey Prawn Curry, Pepper Chicken Chettinad, Hyderabadi Biryani which is served in individual matkas retaining the distinct flavour and
Rajmah Chawa and Kulcha to name a few tantalizes ones palette with their flavour, aroma and taste. There is a Neapolitan Pizza category where a wide choice of pizzas toppings like
Bar-be-que Chicken, Prawn and Pesto Super Veggie are offered.
Cappuccino offers a midnight buffet on Fridays and Saturdays between 12.00 midnight and 5.00 a.m. This is a boon to late nighters. Round-The-Clock offers a mixture of all the food along with
Sandwiches and Burgers, Fillers like Chicken Kathi Rolls, Dosai Etcetra among a few are also offered. Cold and hot beverages are provided, yet again complimenting the fusion of Indian and Continental cuisine.
 Desserts are an array of extensive and tempting delicacies.
Apple Pie with Rum Caramel Sauce served with a scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream holds its forte while
Rich Chocolate Mousse an in-house speciality takes the center stage with its subtle flavour,
Tia Maria Opera Slice a chocolate and coffee layered cake flavoured with Tia Maria redefines the word ‘dessert’ and there is also a selection of
Rasamalai, Kesar Kulfi and a choice of ice creams are among others.
Cappuccino is truly a wonderful mixture food-wise and otherwise. A visit to this place is a must if you are in need of good food, variety and the right ambience.
