Delightful news awaits the gastronomes of Chennai!
Starting November 15, 2002, the Taj Connemara will be hosting a Goan Food Festival. On
until November 24, 2002, the food fest will feature some signature specialties from the land of sunny beaches
at the Verendah, its 24-hour coffee shop.
Mr.R Pasupathy, General Manager, Taj Connemara observes, "It has been our endeavor to ensure that we showcase the best of cuisine in terms of, both quality and variety, at our restaurant. Our food festivals have enjoyed great popularity among our guests. And considering the earlier responses to the Thai food festival, the Andhra food festival and the others, we are positive that the Goan Food Festival will also be a sell out with the
guests."
Goan cuisine draws largely from the Arabian, Portugese and native cultures. It is an exciting blend of richness and simplicity. Building on this trademark characteristic, three chefs flown down from Taj Holiday Village, Goa exclusively for the festival have whipped up an interesting menu. The menu comprises spicy vegetarian and non-vegetarian soups, assorted salads, main course and mouthwatering desserts. Pork, chicken, beef, mutton - evergreen favorites with Goans feature in abundance on the menu. The fest will host some of the all-time favorites like galinha cafreal, sungtacho balchao, pork vindaloo and caldinho de vedura to name a few.
To make the experience truly Goan, the ambience will be done up accordingly with shell strings, rocklights and fishing nets. The staff at the restaurant would also be dressed in straw hats and colorful shirts to enhance the mood of the fest. However, the highlight would be a Goan duo that would be entertaining guests at their tables with some traditional Goan folk songs.
The 10 day long festival is on exclusively for dinner. Well, now you have a good reason to head out in the evenings!
