Chinese New Year
The Chinese New Year falls on 22nd January and The Residency is all set to bring in The Year of The Monkey in true Chinese Style.
On the Chinese New Year Eve, 21st January, Chin Chin, the Chinese restaurant at The Residency, is commencing its Chinese New Year Food Festival. The ten-day festival will have a variety of seafood treats and other traditional dishes that are specially prepared during the Chinese New Year Celebration.
A series of other authentic Chinese delicacies will also be prepared during the food festival, a hotel spokesman said.
From 21st January to 1st February, Chin Chin will be transformed into a mini-China, complete with decorations, music, lucky charms, oranges and the auspicious colour red.
The Chinese New Year Food Festival at Chin Chin will offer an array of seafood delicacies. For soups, you can pick from Seafood & Pumpkin Clear Soup, Shrimp Wonton Soup, Ginger Crab Meat soup and a host of other vegetarian and non-vegetarian soups.
Starters:
Moving on to starters there are sumptuous crab, prawn, squid and fish preparations such as Paper Wrapped Prawns, Crab Wonton, Crab Claws, Chrysanthemum Fish - fried fish fillet topped with Peking sauce, Paper Wrapped Fish, Treasure Squids - squid spiced with crushed pepper corn and many more.
Vegetarians can choose from some crispy vegetables or tofu or cottage cheese preparations like Five Spice Tofu - tofu flavoured with powdered spices, Singapore Cottage Cheese and other secret recipes from China.
Main Course:
For the main course dishes, you can indulge yourself in a whole host of seafood preparations. There are lobsters, crab, fish, squid and other meat preparations to choose from along with rice and noodle dishes. Chin Chin has on its menu Lobster or King Prawn cooked to your choice of sauces, Seafood Medley a delicious assortment of seafood finished with wine sauce, Hunan Shrimp - Ginger and green chilli flavoured mild spicy shrimp, Pineapple Squids - deliciously crumb fried squids and pineapple with chilli flakes, Spicy Fried Pomfret, Mou Chee Kay - roast chicken cooked in soya chilli sauce with potato & spinach, Kung Pow Chicken - diced chicken with dry red chilli & cashewnuts.
On the vegetarian side of the main course, you have Three Treasure Tofu - stir fried tofu with black mushroom, Chinese Cabbage & Bamboo Shoot, Governor's Vegetable, Mixed Vegetable with Slit Green Chillies and Cashewnuts, Adopo Vegetable and among other dishes to pick from along with some tasty rice and noodle preparations.
Desserts
For those with a sweet tooth, pick your desserts from Stuffed Lychees with Choco Sauce, Fried Ice Cream, Tiramisu, Banana Pancake with ice cream among other sweet dishes.
