The interiors are
saffron coloured marble floors, with hand finished walls. The place comprises
a ground and mezzanine floor, with live instrumental carnatic music during dinner time. Indian figurines adorn the well-lit place with the highlight being copper utensils, with even the chandelier having been done in copper is what makes the
Copper Point restaurant unique in Hotel GRT Grand Days. The restaurant provides a private dining space with a seating capacity for 14 people at a time and has proved to be
a haven for some of the VIP guests and families who walk in. Aptly named, the restaurant offers a
multi-Indian spread which includes South Indian and North Indian dishes offered
along side irresistible Tandoors. The restaurant has a seating capacity of 98 and offers Power Lunch Thali in South Indian and North Indian categories, which attracts the entire gamut of the corporate crowd. The Thalis are reasonably priced, the veg thali for Rs.241/- and non-veg for Rs.271/- both of these are inclusive of taxes and carries an offer wherein
if 4 thalis are ordered the 5th would be on the house. The offer is on till December 2002. The menu for the Thali meals varies from day to day, keeping monotony at bay. The Manager
Mr. Devanarayanan recommends the Thali Lunch for its variety.
Unique dishes like
Gunch-O-Kheema - a cauliflower minced dry dish takes focul point. Gosht Nizami
transports one's palette to the good old days of the Nizam, while Gosht Roganjosh
leads the way to Kashmir. Some of the desi dishes like Meen Poondu Kozhumbu does help people to touch base with home cooked food.
Meen Moilee, a traditional Kerala fish-based dish vies for attention along with dishes like
Macher Jol a Bengali fish curry, since both the states are prominently known for their mutual affinity towards fish. Among the rotis, the uniqueness lies in the offer of
assorted Bread Platter which offers 6 different varieties of Naans and
Rotis.
There is an elaborate list of Veg and Non Veg dishes from almost every corner of India. The
salad list consists of innovative dishes like
Roti Bhurbhurgi Salad which contains strips of fresh rotis, onion, tomatoes, capsicum spiced up with chaat-dressing,
a variation from the normal salad mode. There is an exclusive Jain menu which gives a variety of dishes cooked without garlic and onion. The Signature dishes would be the
Appam cooked in the glass sided display kitchen, stew and Kozhi Varutha Kozhambu.
The Dessert section provides guests with an endless list of unique delicacies like
Rosappu Gulkandu, Chenna Payesh, Elaneer payasam and the veritable
Qurmani Ka Meeta which is a combination of apricots and dates seasoned with nuts, an in-house preparation which is an unparalleled delicacy. The most common desi delicacies, like
Basundi, Kulfi, Rasamalai and Fruit Salad with a choice of Ice creams to name a few, also figure in the menu.
Food festivals are held every month
at Copper Point and festivals are celebrated with great pomp with the Chef
Mr. Seetharaman churning out traditional dishes reminiscing the past. The main crowd attraction for this particular restaurant are families who come in large numbers. The Copper Point has also established itself as a non-smoking restaurant based on
a wide request but for those who cannot resist the drag, the GRT Grand Days provides a spacious lounge just outside the restaurant. All in all, the Copper Point provides guests a truly authentic Indian experience.
