(Ayurvedic
seasonal regimen)
Now we
see the seasonal regimen and its importance in our daily life.
A.
Introduction
Rtu means season, Carya means regimen.
It comes under the concept of preserving and maintaining health.
Rtu carya denotes the regimen to be followed by people
during different seasons to prevent diseases and to maintain health.
References are available in all the texts of Ayurveda.
Time (kala ) is divine and has no beginning or end. It
denotes change (parinama ). The changes in atmosphere
are called Rtus and it follows a definite order. This
transformation affects the human body also. So understanding this
concept is essential to creating harmony between the environment and
the being.
According to Ayurveda , the human being is an integral
part of the Universe and both have the basic elements (five maha
bhutas ) in common. Any change in the macrocosm is reflected
in the microcosm, i.e., the being. Therefore, changes in the seasons
affect the body’s physiology considerably.
