SahayamaryCelebrities will cook food at a Food Fair being organised by TV artistes in Chennai on April 25, 2004, in an effort to raise funds for 27-year-old Sahayamary who badly requires a heart surgery.

This is a life-saving mission supported by television artistes and some members of the media.

The Food Fair will be held from 1700 to 2100 hrs at the St Ebbas Girls Higher Secondary School on Radhakrishnan Salai in Mylapore.

The features of the Fair are:

Celebrity Chefs cook food items of their own choice. The public are invited to come to the fair and buy the food varieties. Token system with a central counter. Most popular items, as judged by the public, will win prizes. Lots of games to be conducted by TV stars. Lots of other household stalls.

Other features -- Game stalls, Kids' rides, Bouncing Castle and Lucky Dip.

1. Each star will cook at least two different items.

2. The food items will be vegetarian or non-vegetarian according to their own choice.

3. Each stall will be manned by a star.

James Vasanthan, a TV anchor, said all the artistes were coming together to save a life. Sahayamary, aged 27, was diagnosed to have a problem in the mitral valve of her heart. Dr. Oommem K. George of CMC Hospital, Vellore, who is treating her, has advised a bypass surgery to replace the valve within six months. This advice was given on 12th November, 2003.

The ‘mitral valve replacement surgery’ is estimated to cost around Rs. 1,50,000. With her husband drawing a salary of just Rs. 3,500 per month, this surgery looks to be beyond her and the family. She has a four-month-old child.

James Vasanthan said at this juncture, the TV artistes decided to mobilise the funds to support the surgery expenses by conducting the Food Fair with the help of some celebrities.
