With every fifth diabetic in the world being an Indian, self-monitoring of glucose becomes a very critical step for people with undiagnosed or untreated diabetes, Dr Mohan said. Studies conducted by Dr Joshi and his team have shown that correctly diagnosing diabetes is equivalent to diagnosing a heart attack.
Diabetes has a Danger Zone. In the 'danger zone', serious cardiovascular complications happen. In fact, the blood glucose levels could be in the danger zone even if the person with diabetes feels fine.
