Dr K S Sanjivi award for doctors
On the occasion
of World Doctors Day 2007, the Confederation of Indian
Organisations for Service and Advocacy (CIOSA) and Udhavum
Ullangal present Dr K S Sanjivi Awards 2007, at Krishna Gana
Sabha, T Nagar, on July 1, Sunday, 10.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.
Dr K S Sanjivi
Award was instituted by CIOSA and Udhavum Ullangal in 2004 in
memory of Dr K S Sanjivi, the doyen of community healthcare in
Chennai and founder of Voluntary Health Services, Taramani. This
award is given annually to doctors and institutions who have
served the poor beyond the call of duty without compormising
professional excellence.

The past
awardees of the awards and other doctors have come together to
provide healthcare to the poor and needy through camps and
clinics.
'Ekam', Oneness, is a community paediatric project to provide
holistic healthcare to the underprivileged, A team of
paediatricians, Yoga teachers, nutritionists and social workers
visit voluntary organisatios providing residential care to
children regularly to improve their health status. With the help
of private hospitals and pharmaceutical companies, secondary and
tertiary care is given completely free to the children.
At the Sunday function, Tamil Nadu
Health Minister K K S S R Ramachandran would inaugurate the
Doctor with a Heart project, and MP S Thirunavukarasar would
inaugurate the Ekam project.
Dr Sunil Shroff, Prof and Head of
the Department of Urology and Renal Transplantation, SRMC, Porur,
would release the Non Profit Magazine.

Pandiarajan, founder-trustee CIOSA, and the vote of thanks would
be by B Sankar Mahadevan, founder-trustee, Udhavum Ullangal.
CIOSA:
CIOSA helps unlock the immense
potential of collective social action and serve as the
facilitatie platform where NGOs, companies and invidiuals with
social concern come together for mutual learning, sharing and
the collective espousal of social causes. Launched in October
2003 by the Governor of Tamil Nadu, CIOSA has today more than
160 NGOs, eight corporates and 100 invdividuals as its members.
