A Rs 25 crore,
126-bed private, superspecialty heart hospital was declared open at
Mogappair in Chennai by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on
February 18.
K M Cherian,
charman and CEO, Frontier Lifeline, the company that operates the
International Centre for Cardio Thoracic and Vascular Diseases, said
the hospital had introduced new technology in health services,
particularly the first porcelain operation theatre in Asia and
high-tech biplane cardiac catheritisation laboratories.
This
technology would help bring about dust-free and zero-bacteria
atmosphere.

No organism could grow on porcelain, he said adding the
hospital would therefore maintain a zero-infection rate.
With the
administration of just one shot of dye, four views of the same image
could be had, he said referring to the salient features of the
high-tech cardiac catheritisation labs.
There were also
facilities for tissue engineering, Cherian pointed out.
